Youth Group Camping
This past week-end our youth group went on a camping/cottaging trip. It was a wonderful week-end and we had so much fun together...I love these guys

Most of the week-end ended up being alittle dreary, but we found enough to keep us busy. Amazing canoeing and lots of card games, we even attempted to make a 2500 peice puzzle (unfortunately we were not motivated enough to finish it)

Througout the entire week-end we had organized TDA (Team Development Activities), which we also learned are nick named Totally Dumb Activities. A few times I had to sit and laugh at the fact that we were actually spending hours trying to complete them. Despite the hilarity of the situations we learned so much, we learned how to work as a team and work together toward a common goal.
In this one, we had to cross a space of about 20 feet without touching the ground we had to step on these boards (which we only had 3 of) The catch to this game was that our entire team of over 20 people had to get to the finish line and as soon as someone touched everyone had to return to the start. We estimated that it should only take 1/2 hour but it took a good 2 1/2 hours to accomplish this task. One of the guys had been goofing off and fell over and had jokingly said that he had broke his leg - the boss man heard and he was no longer allowed to use his leg - so here the guys are trying to get him to the other side by carrying him.

This was another task to complete. We all had to sit under this maze of twine and had to get our entire team out of the holes without touching any of it. Obviously we couldn't go under, so we attempted to throw people out holes in the top and pass them through the sides. The ground was muddy and wet and we all were extremely dirty by the end. We gave our selves 2 1/2 hours to try to get out, but still didn't make it.

The last activity we did I didn't have my camera along for, but it was pretty cool. We met as a group and our leader told us we have 20 minutes to grab whatever we need for a night in the bush (we honestly thought he was joking and then when we realized that he wasn't joking we weren't all that happy) We had to hike for about 3 hours in the bush carrying all of our stuff trying to find a spot where supplies for our camp had been dropped off. 2 of the youth had a crash training session on how to use a compass and read a map and then they were responsible to direct us to both the supply pick up point and our campsite. They did an amazing job they found our points on the map and we eventually got there. I was amazed at how we did, we worked so well together, and no one got mad at each other (which was impressive considering our youth group knows each other so well that we have no second thoughts on speaking our minds) We were climbing up hills and sliding down the other side, crossing rivers and helping others around us. When we got to our site we had to cut wood, get water from the lake and start our supper. The night was extremely cold and sleeping on a rock is not that comfy, but other than that we had a great time and learned so much.

I was tring to get all these gals smiling but one of the guys threw a broken log piece into the water beside them just as I snapped - oh well they do have cute expressions.
